Luis Mendez | Director of Social Equity & Community Outreach
Mr. Mendez brings more than 17 years of experience in Government, Community Development and Real Estate to his role at Renaissance Downtowns USA.
Mr. Mendez began his career in 2002 as a Government Official in one of the wealthiest counties in the U.S. (Nassau County, NY) where he served for over 8 years as Project Director of the Enforcement and Compliance Agency for procurement of Women and Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (WMBE). Mr. Mendez oversaw compliance of the WMBE program in the $500 million dollar Capital Improvements Budget of Nassau County. Renaissance Downtowns took notice of Mr. Mendez’ successes in both equity initiatives and community development and in 2012, he joined the company as a consultant for social equity and community outreach initiatives. Mr. Mendez is responsible for supporting community-led initiatives and ensuring implementation of RDUSA’s triple-bottom-line approach to Equitable Transit-Oriented Development.
Luis Mendez is a graduate of the inaugural class of the School of Labor Relations Diversity Management Program at Cornell University.
